Emotional di Grassi passes 1000 points with podium finish in Seoul Round 15

After securing third place in Seoul and on the eve of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship stalwart Lucas di Grassi's 100th race, the ROKiT Venturi Racing driver speaks about surpassing 1,000 points and claiming the most podiums in the championship's history.

"It's been a very emotional day," admitted Lucas di Grassi, moments after stepping out of his  ROKiT Venturi car after finishing third in Round 15, in Seoul's Olympic Stadium. "It's a really, really big honour racing here. This is an amazing place, with amazing fans - thank you to everybody."

"We did our best today for the team in the championship and for me personally, to reach my 39th podium and 1011 point, so I'm super, super happy. For me it's it's a dream come true. We're going to celebrate a lot tonight."

Having been in Formula E since its inception, di Grassi is the longest-serving and the most decorated driver in terms of podiums in the series' history, with a grand total of 39 podiums from 99 races. Claiming 15 points for his third place, the Brazilian smashed through his 1000th point in Formula E, now with 1,009 points gained through eight years of racing in the all-electric series.

"It's still such an honour a privilege to compete with such a high level field of drivers. This couldn't be a better way to enter my 100th race," added the Brazilian. Starting second after a solid performance in Qualifying, di Grassi battled at the front of the pack on a rain-soaked track in the Korean capital. With Championship hopeful Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) on the hunt for his first title, the Kiwi slipped past both di Grassi and Poleman Oliver Rowland (Mahindra Racing), who struggled off the line with a loss of traction.

"We fought very hard to extract the most out of it, no mistakes and thank you to the team for the car that they gave me. And thanks for the fans for being here."

With limited time for celebrations ahead of the season finale in Seoul tomorrow, di Grassi is intent on doing it all again. Although out of the running for the Drivers' championship title this time out, the Venturi driver has his sights firmly set on securing the Teams' title for the Venturi squad in Round 16 tomorrow.
