The championship-winning Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler squad have been a regular front-runner in Formula E since claiming victory in the very first race back in Beijing, 2014. For Season 7, the team has poured everything into going out on a high, with an all-new in-house designed-and-built powertrain ready to take it to the most competitive line-up in the series' history.
One of the longest-serving teams in the championship, Audi has been a part of the Formula E fold since the inaugural 2014/15 campaign when it ran under the Audi Sport ABT banner. The team gained full Audi manufacturer support ahead of the 2017/18 season, when racing legend Allan McNish took over as team principal.
With a deep motorsport pedigree dating back to 1981, Audi Sport has competed in everything from the World Rally Championship and Pikes Peak, to Super Touring, DTM, World Endurance, GT racing and, most recently, Formula E.
The team's technical relationship with Schaeffler has been the driving force behind the development of the powertrain, which took Lucas di Grassi to within a couple of points of the Drivers' Championship title in Season 2, and finally top honours and the Drivers' crown in Season 3. Alongside Schaeffler, the team has a long association with ABT Sportsline, a German motor racing and auto tuning company.
As one of the world's largest car makers, Audi has long used Formula E as a test-bed and breeding ground for cutting edge technology transfer to its road-going consumer vehicles. Racing on the streets helps Audi test, develop and refine the technology that features in its road cars like the new for 2021 all-electric e-tron GT.
The team's Audi e-tron FE07 features an all-new powertrain package developed in-house by the manufacturer for the first time. Audi has "left no stone unturned" in a bid to seal World Championship honours, as Formula E becomes the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for Season 7. The German marque is pulling out all the stops to end its current Formula E stint on a high, that's for certain.
