Reigning champions Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler have been a regular front-runner in Formula E since claiming victory in the very first race back in Beijing, 2014.

For Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler, the 2017/18 season of the Championship saw the team fight back from the brink of defeat to finish first overall, clinching the title by just two points in the final round. With a history in the series dating back to the very first Formula E race in Beijing in 2014, the team became a full-backed Audi works team ahead of the 2017/18 season, when racing legend Allan McNish took over as Team Principal.

With a motorsport pedigree dating back to 1981, Audi Sport has competed in everything from the World Rally Championship and Pikes Peak, to Super Touring, DTM, GT racing and, most recently, Formula E. The team's technical relationship with Schaeffler has been the driving force behind the development of the powertrain, which took Lucas di Grassi to within a couple of points of the drivers' championship title in season two and finally the title in season three. Alongside Schaeffler, the team has a long association with Abt Sportsline, a German motor racing and auto tuning company.

As one of the world largest car makers, racing on the streets helps Audi test, develop and refine the technology that features in its road cars like the all-electric e-tron SUV. With more electric cars due to hit the streets in the coming years, the teams new Gen2 Audi e-tron FE05 ushers in a new era of all-electric racing with up to 250kW of power and a 0-100km/h time of 2.8seconds.

Completing the team's driver line up is Brazilian driver Lucas Di Grassi and his German teammate Daniel Abt. Both drivers have been with the team since the first season.

With a title to defend, the battle's just begun for the German manufacturer.
